By A Teacher's Teacher
ELA; Grades 7-12

This Shakespeare Log assignment is perfect for any play by the Bard that you happen to assign. Even better, it works for both in-class and out-of-class reading assignments, so it can be used to fit any of your needs. The only real requirement is that it should be used with one of Shakespeare’s wonderful tragedies, comedies, or histories. (Of course, if you edit it for another purpose, that is fine, too!)  The Log assignment works like a reading journal, requiring students to write after each scene read, and it saves you from the hassle of coming up with new writing prompts for each scene, while building in the idea of student choice!

This is a great little package jam packed with things to learn about and do for May Day. The text tells about the astronomical and seasonal significance of May day, details about the maypole and dances, the history of May Day and its different celebrations, and May Day customs in the United States. The reading passages have highlighted vocabulary words which are defined at the bottom of the page. The content will catch the attention of and be comprehensible to students from second to fourth grade. There are many photographs, pictures, and charts to illustrate the text's content. In addition, there is a crossword puzzle and a fill in the blank activity based on the information of the text.
