FREE MATH LESSON - “Place Value (Bundling Tens) Count and Color {Freebie}”

This math free resource sampler was designed to give 2nd and 3rd grade students practice with the place value concept of “bundling” (grouping) tens as hundreds. Students will build upon the understanding that each group of 10 tens is equivalent to 100 hundred.

How It Works: Students are presented with a series of three-digit numbers beginning with 100 and ending with 909. They then work to determine the number of tens (and ones) IN EACH NUMBER by bundling groups of 10 tens (and ones) and coloring those amounts in. When complete, students will have a visual representation of a 3-digit number bundled by tens and ones. Place value and addition fun!

FREE MATH LESSON - “*Freebie* Fun Fact Coordinate Graphing Picture: Elephant”

With this activity, students will practice graphing coordinate points on all four quadrants of the coordinate plane (12 in each direction with precision up to one-quarter of a point). Students will connect each point as they graph in order to reveal the answer to the mystery fun fact! This is a great way to review skills for graphing and the activity lends itself toward the discussion of fractional parts on the coordinate plane. In addition, this activity is wonderful for early finishers, skills enrichment, sub plans, or just plain fun! When students are done, have them color their picture to use as fun classroom decor!
