3rd - 5th Grade
Mixtures and Solutions Vocabulary Lesson
This file is a sample lesson from Hands-On Science Vocabulary Instruction Bundle.
Use this resource to introduce the vocabulary terms for mixtures and solutions to your students. I recommend using this resource with interactive notebooks, but it can be used with a sheet of paper as well.
Terms:
mixture
solution
dissolve
solute
solvent
There are four parts to the lesson:
Part 1: The teacher leads the students in an activity for about 15 minutes. They draw and record what they did in their notebook.
Part 2: Use direct instruction to teach students the new terms using motions, listening, talking, drawing, and a foldable page.
Part 3: Students revisit the activity page and identify what they did using their new vocabulary.
Part 4: Students do an "I Learned" page as Output.
