Teacher Notes:
In these Distance Learning times, teachers need a variety of Self-Guided lessons and activities that engage students' desire to learn. When students can't ask their instructor, “What are you looking for?” or “What should I say?” we need to offer them the opportunity to not only think for themselves, but to have confidence in their thinking.
My goal with each of the 174 products in my TpT store is to inspire students to trust their thoughts and ideas in their thinking, writing, and speaking by strengthening their mental muscles with strong higher-level critical and analytical thinking skills.
This packet showcases links for 26 PRICED products for a total of 1133 pages of lessons and activities when added together. I chose these because they lend themselves best to Self-Guided Distance Learning.
Each product includes
• a variety of activities that do not need to be presented in chronological order. Teachers can select lessons and activities according to their objectives, school and state standards, and their students’ needs, skills, and abilities.
• flexible and adaptable material teachers can select to fit the literature students are reading, as well as the comprehension, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary skills objectives they want students to meet.
• an independent reading choices option. When a group novel study isn’t practical, teachers can ask students to choose their reading material from their own print and online sources, although these selections must fit the teacher’s and parents’ guidelines.
• writing exercises ranging from creative pieces to formal essays or research projects. Sometimes teachers might want to assign a short journal entry just to check comprehension, but other times they want students to work on developing ideas more completely. Whatever they write, students will strengthen their skills because they are writing, writing, writing.
These Self-Guided lessons and activities are
• printable and ready to deliver to students individually or in packets by email, snail mail, online or in person-if you must distribute them to parents and their young people at a specified location.

Leah Cleary, an online teaching colleague, gave me permission to include her excellent detailed directions - text with visuals - explaining how teachers, students, and parents can upload DocHub to their personal computers. This app is an absolute time-saver for teachers who still need to make their own lessons and activities pdf fillable, and for teachers, students, and parents who want to keep the learning light lit during these Distance Learning times.
Each lesson/activity includes directions so students understand how to complete the work at home. The lessons follow my Show Them, Help Them, Let Them teaching philosophy. Look over the material in this packet and in my store, and then choose the lessons and activities that fit your goals for the rest of this school year along with your students' needs, skills, and abilities. Any of the work students complete will add depth and strength to their concrete and higher-level reading, thinking, and writing skills. You will only need to specify a timetable for completion and how students should return their completed work to you.
