Birthday parties are loaded with communication possibilities, but also with the possibility of being overwhelmed, anxious, and withdrawn or overstimulated.
Playing birthday party allows the student an opportunity to try out some appropriate messages and to get familiar with the party routine.
Birthday parties often begin with a game or other fun activity. They might include bowling or jump houses or arcade games.
For purposes of this teaching activity we are going to assume a basic game sequence at home, followed by cake and ice cream and then opening of presents.
There are 2 sequencing activities: What Do I Do? and What Can I Expect?
