"DBT...Sensory Skills? That's not by the book, Ms. Whimsy." Indeed, DBT Sensory Skills combine adaptive Distress Tolerance work with psychoeducation about sensory needs and self-regulation, therein meeting a previously unmet need.
This no-prep neurodivergent friendly group is adapted specifically for teens and adults with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and other forms of neurodivergency. Adaptations include: interactive guided notes, color coded sections, memory devices, comic sans font, sensory informed skills, accessible practice, and more!
Skills covered in this group: internal senses (hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity), external senses (hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity), adaptive IMPROVE skill, how to make a sensory plan, and an original-to-me skill I utilize to teach clients how to handle sensory meltdowns, SAFE.
The handouts included with this listing are linked in the last slide of each presentation's google presentation as a .pdf which can be opened from google drive.
While individual parts of my neurodivergent DBT group (such as this one :)) can be purchased in my store, the skills are meant to be taught as a whole and as such each group reviews all previous skills taught. This group reviews Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance skills in addition to teaching and reinforcing Sensory skills.
