FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “FREE Annotating Text Handout for Close Reading”

by HappyEdugator
5th - 9th Grade

Symbols for Marking or Annotating Text for Close Reading - FREE! This reading symbols handout will help students understand how to mark or annotate text as they read. Students can use sticky notes to mark text in books that can't be marked up, or write on passages in standardized tests where allowed. Helps students with metacognition and to think while they read. Students may also design their own symbols in addition to the suggestions on the sheet. You can print these out and have students put in their interactive notebooks or journals, or make posters with them for your reading or literacy center.

FREE SOCIAL STUDIES LESSON - “Electoral College Simulation”

by Leah Cleary
10th - 12th Grade

This simulation and foldable graphic organizer will give sociology, U.S. history, or civics students a basic understanding of how the Electoral College in the U.S. works.

Students will believe they are about to play a review game, but instead they will end up voting “Electoral College-Style” on a winner.

You Get:
Voting Group Selection Cards
Voting Ballots
Foldable Graphic Organizer Reflection

In order to perform the simulation, you will need:
A Class Roster—for simplification, divide your students into two teams alphabetically, the top of the roster vs. the bottom of the roster.
Three Shoe Boxes—one in which for each team to cast their votes.

This is a part of my
Sociology Complete Curriculum Mega Bundle and my
Social Institutions Interactive Notebook Bundle

FREE MISC. LESSON - “BIENVENUS Banner”

by Urbino12
Pre-Kindergarten - 12th Grade

This banner spells out "B I E N V E N U S " in French. It will welcome students to your French classroom. There is one letter per page. The letter "I" is actually the Eiffel Tower. There is also a fleur de lis on each page. Letters can be cut out into triangle shapes or used as they are. May be stapled to a bullentin board display or hung using string. All you have to do is fold each letter over the string and hang in your classroom.

Additional resource on this topic in black and white:
