This unit has activities for all areas of learning that are “Sub Tub” friendly. It can be used as substitute plans for just one day or as a week long unit, depending on your preferences. The contents are flexible to meet the individual needs of your classroom. Whether you want just a few days of fun or literature activities for a week of school, this unit will work for you.

I created a variety of foldables and activities to differentiate for each teacher’s wishes. Also included are a large variety of graphic organizers and printables for individual, group and whole class lessons. This variety is not meant as redundancy for your classroom, but rather as way for you to differentiate your instruction for individual students or as a change of pace when you use this unit year after year.

I never do ALL the activities in this unit with my class….there is too much! Each year I pick and choose what works for me. I like to try different activities instead of doing the same thing year after year. This unit helps me do that with over 100 pages to choose from! Enjoy!

FREE MATH LESSON - “Playful Penguins File Folder Game”

Playful Penguins is a file folder game designed to help your preschooler or kindergartener practice recognizing and counting the numbers 1-10. Print and cut out all of the components of this resource and glue (excluding snowflakes) into a file folder as indicated. Your child will look at the number listed on a penguin's tummy and count and lay that many snowflakes on top of the penguin. Store snowflakes in a sandwich bag.

You can laminate the file folder and snowflakes for extra durability or print the snowflakes on cardstock paper.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Growth Mindset ABC Order {Freebie}”

This no-prep language arts free resource sampler was created for the purpose of giving 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students practice with the skill of placing 18 specific, content-based words and phrases in alphabetical order. In addition, students will use their decoding skills to identify and sort growth mindset vocabulary words by sound spellings (short vowels, long vowels, r-controlled words, etc.), part of speech (nouns, verbs, etc.), and number of syllables.

How It Works: Students are given an unalphabetized list of growth mindset vocabulary words and phrases. Each list of words is to be rearranged alphabetically. After the words have been arranged in alphabetical order, the words may then be categorized and color-sorted by vowel sound, part of speech, or the number of syllables.
