Thinking of Reading Fluency as a bridge connecting word recognition to comprehension is suggested by educational consultant and researcher, Dr. Jan Hasbrouck. Without that bridge there is no comprehension. Most readers develop fluency with ease; however, there are some who struggle. One of the best methods to help develop and strengthen student fluency skills is repeated oral reading. This resource provides a five-day a week lesson plan based on the research of Dr. Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D., professor of literacy education at Kent State University.
Included are:
· Preparation suggestions
· Step by step activities for each day of the week
· Four Square Word Boxes worksheet
· Lyrics to three songs for repeated oral reading
· List of sources for songs and poetry
