FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “{FREEBIE} Shape Play-Doh Mats”

by iHeart Teaching
Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade

Use these shape play-doh mats to help your students make shapes and understand their properties. For each shape they will use play-doh to create the outline of the shape. Then they will use a dry-erase marker to draw the shape. They can also use play-doh or the marker to trace the name of the shape for extra handwriting practice. My students love doing these for centers and they are great to build those fine motor skills!

**Play-Doh mats are also great to keep students busy while you assess students in the beginning of the year!

These play-doh mats fulfill the following Common Core State Standards:
K.G.A.2: Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.
K.G.B.5: Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components (e.g., sticks and clay balls) and drawing shapes.
