FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Falling Leaves, Autumn, Emergent Reader, Freebie”

by KindyKats
Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten

Celebrate the fall season with this math-oriented FREEBIE, which is a sample from one of my best sellers, November Songs & Rhymes. You’ll reinforce number recognition, number word recognition, one-to-one matching, and more. Your crew will be reading this book again and again!

Each child will need:
1, A set of the half-page booklet pages (pages 3 - 9)
2. Art supplies – scissors, pencils, crayons (or alternately use thinned paints, stamp pads, sticky dots, scrunched tissue paper, tissue paper squares, construction paper scraps & glue, and/or bingo daubers).

1.Have each child cut out the booklet pages and stack them in order. Staple in the left corner. Have her color the picture on the title page.

2.Direct students to trace the number on each page, color the picture, and glue (or draw) the appropriate number of leaves in the squares.

3.Color the leaves on booklet page 4.

4. On the final three pages, have each child make thumbprint leaves of red, yellow, and orange (or use bingo daubers).

5.A fun and creative way to complete this booklet is to use a different art technique on each page. For example, children can use construction paper scraps and glue them to one page, make thumbprint leaves for another page, scrunched bits of tissue paper for another, etc.

Appropriate for use in Daycare, Preschool, Kindergarten, and Homeschool.
