Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade
This activity is a fun way to reuse your berry containers while working on letter sounds and letter names! This is a fun berry themed letter sound practice that provides lots of seasonal fun! Perfect for Earth Day themes as well to show how to reuse containers.
I love enjoying berries of any kind during the summer months, but I don’t like having to use the berry containers just once! I wanted a fun and engaging activity that could also serve as a repurpose for those berry containers. So, save up a berry container or two and repurpose it into this fun letter sound practice game!
To play:
Play with 1-6 players. Start by chanting the Berry Poem together and between each turn.
- Student chooses a berry letter out of the container without looking. Then, they look and say the letter and its sound. They keep that letter.
- Continue playing by chanting the poem and then the next student takes a turn. If someone chooses a Surprise Berry, they get to choose another berry too (essentially they take an extra berry card). Play until all the berries have been taken out of the container. Then, put them back in and play again!
